I know that options expire on the 3rd Friday of the month, that month depending on whichever one you chose. My question is are you able to exercise your options any month prior to the experation month or does it have to be the month that they expire.

american opeions can exercise anytime... European options can only exercise on experation date. But almost all options in US are american.
