New to this, Wondering about the tax's

How much tax is paid exactly on the gains?

Also Can you declare the commision on each of the trades as a expense, So lets say i make 500 dollars off of a stock but i spent 50 dollars commision to purchase it and then 50 dollars commision to sell it.

Made 500
- 100 commisions

Total profit 400, do i only get taxes on the 400?

or all of 500 and i need to eat the money i spent on commision?
