WESTMINSTER, Colo., April 26, 2005 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Expanding with Linux into the mainstream, Interact-TV(TM) (ITVI), a leading developer of home entertainment servers, is leveraging recent Linux advancements to drive forward the underlying power, stability and features of its Telly Home Entertainment Server(TM) line.

Interact-TV uses Linux technologies such as logical volume management to eliminate customer confusion about where digital media is located on the system and the ability to support RAID for the ultimate in secure, reliable digital media storage in the home. Leveraging new technology available from vendors such as Seagate(TM) to monitor hard drive status allows Interact-TV software to predict significant drive failure before any data is lost. All of these features provide ease of use and peace of mind for the consumer. Linux also provides the ability to share and mount PC, Mac and other file systems over the home network. This is the same technology now available in most servers that drive the Internet today.

"Leveraging Linux with open source software development allows us to quickly provide new technologies as well as lower the overall cost of development, therefore providing a lower cost to the consumer," stated Ken Fuhrman, CEO of Interact-TV. "Linux has made it in the server world and, according to predictions published by market research company IDC, the Linux operating system will account for 29% of units shipped into the worldwide server market in 2008, up from 12% last year. We feel confident that Linux is the future for the next generation of media management devices for the home."

Telly Home Entertainment Servers allow consumers to easily store, organize, playback and enjoy digital media in their home. Telly servers are compact and quiet, designed for any room in the home and fully scaleable with up to 1.2 Terabytes of storage.
