AuraGen VIPER to Provide Integral Combat Service Support
to Several Marine Corps Commands

EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Jan. 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Aura Systems, Inc.
(OTC Bulletin Board: AURA) today announced that it has received purchase
orders for 15 units from the U.S. Marine Corps Systems Command and the U.S.
Marine Corps 2nd Force Service Support Group (2nd FSSG) for the AuraGen(R)
VIPER (Vehicle Integrated Primary Electrical Resource). In addition to the
2nd FSSG, which provides combat service support, end-user combat units include
the 6th Marines/22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), and the 2nd Marine
Division. The U.S. Marine Corps Systems Command will also be conducting
separate evaluations of the VIPER to determine its broad applicability to meet
Marine Corps power requirements.
"Aura is proud to support our armed forces with the best in mobile
electrical power," said Neal Meehan, Aura chairman and CEO. "The Marine Corps
deployment illustrates the expanding requirements for high-quality, mobile
electrical power to support of our increasingly high-tech Military Forces.
The selection of the VIPER by the Marine Corps is an affirmation of the
increasing recognition of its capabilities."
All end-user commands will use G8500 VIPERs, which provide 8,500 watts
continuous/9,000 watts peak power of high quality AC (alternating current),
whether the vehicle is parked or mobile. The VIPERs will be installed on unit
HMMWV Light Tactical Vehicles (LTVs). In addition to the G8500, the Systems
Command also has acquired G6000D DC-only VIPER systems capable of 5,600 total
watts, with an output of 200 amps DC (direct current).
The Marine Corps describes an MEU as " ... a powerful, mobile force
deployable from self-contained floating sea bases ... the MEU is uniquely
equipped and forward-deployed to respond to any threat, protect any American
or ally, or squash any menace at any place in the world, often within hours.
With its complement of fully integrated air and ground forces, working closely
with its Navy brethren, the MEU is a powerful, expertly-trained, and
superbly-equipped force that has proven itself time and again in recent years.
... The MEU consists of approximately 2,200 Marines and Sailors."
The upcoming VIPER deployment with the 22nd MEU exemplifies the range of
support applications that the VIPER provides. The 22nd MEU consists of its:
Command Element: Single command headquarters over all ground, aviation,
and combat service support forces.
Ground Combat Element: Battalion Landing Team 1st Bn., 6th Marines (a
VIPER user); built around a Marine infantry battalion, the GCE is reinforced
with tanks, artillery, amphibious vehicles, engineers, and reconnaissance
assets.
Aviation Combat Element: Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 266
(Reinforced); consists of a composite medium helicopter squadron containing
transport helicopters of various models and capabilities, attack helicopters
and jets, air defense teams, and all necessary ground support assets.
MEU Service Support Group - MEU Service Support Group 22 (drawn from
throughout the 2nd Force Service Support Group [a VIPER user]); Provides the
MEU with mission-essential support such as medical/dental assistance, motor
transport, supply, equipment maintenance, and landing.
The MEU is scheduled to deploy aboard the amphibious assault ships WASP,
SHREVEPORT, and WHIDBEY ISLAND as part of Expeditionary Strike Group 2.
The VIPER is also in use with Special Operations, Army Airborne, Stryker
Brigade, Corps Support commands and Joint military commands, among others, in
the United States and overseas. The VIPER has been supporting troops in
Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan since shortly after 9/11. In
addition, the VIPER is supporting combat and combat support units operating
throughout Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. This has included the
first combat airdrops of the VIPER.
The AuraGen/VIPER is also supporting Homeland Security and is in use with
the FBI, BATF, DHHS, state and local first responders in law enforcement,
emergency response and fire departments. In addition, the AuraGen is serving
telecommunications, cable companies and municipalities, among others, across
the nation.
The superior combination of performance quality, responsiveness and
continuity, together with compactness, light weight, versatility, no scheduled
maintenance and cost- effectiveness makes the AuraGen unique in comparison
with gensets; and, in addition, the AuraGen systems can augment the vehicle
alternator with high power output at engine idle and low speed.
