I noticed it last week... did a little research... it's been a couple of years since they said they were going to fly their first plane and it never happened. I visited their website, there was a number to get in touch with whatever guy, I checked it and it's a false on... it's another company's phone number that has nothing to do with Baltia Airline. I got in contact with that specific company and they were found it very bizarre.
Something seems wrong about Baltia Airlines.

Not sure what number you called, but 718-275-5205 works fine and is Balta's number. The numbers listed on their website for reservations, etc are not actual numbers, just place holders till they 'open' the lines up for calls.
I spoke with Bob Storm this afternoon, sounds like they have some pretty exciting things coming for the company, he couldn't go into details naturally.

Plus when you look at their website, it's extremely cheap for a company that said many times it was going to do oversees flights, at least get a professional website! www.baltia.com
The phone number I was talking about is this one:
Bob Strom Dir. Public Relations Baltia Air Lines Tel (760) 883-5808
This number is for another company:
Cast Stone Elements 36555 Bankside Dr Cathedral City, CA 92234-7602 (760) 883-5808
There's a lot of things that leave me sceptical about this one.

I used to fly big aircraft for many years including that one on their website. Do you know what fuel costs are for a B747? About 50 cents a second. Don't do it. Period.

Baltia Air Lines to Offer Guaranteed Same-Day Package Delivery Service Between NY and St. Petersburg, Russia Wednesday May 10, 6:30 am ET
NEW YORK, May 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Baltia Air Lines (OTC Bulletin Board: BLTA - News) is predicting 25% of revenues will be derived from unique, personal care courier services between New York City and St. Petersburg, Russia. ADVERTISEMENT [Blocked Ads]
Igor Dmitrowsky, President of startup Baltia Air Lines, scheduled for nonstop passenger service between New York City and St. Petersburg Russia later this year, said they will be the only company offering guaranteed, same day package delivery between these two major cities. He said this special service will play a very significant role in the company's bottom line profits.
"We will have our own Baltia Express Vans in both cities ready to hand deliver packages within hours of arrival," Mr. Dmitrowsky stated. "This will facilitate businesses, banks, hospitals, private parties and any organizations that require immediate service and personal care handling of their packages and documents."
Mr. Dmitrowsky went on to say that he anticipates these special Baltia Courier programs will also be utilized by the United States and Russian postal services as well as established package delivery companies.
"We will be flying B747's which have a tremendous cargo capacity as well as passenger space," he said. "In addition we will be expanding passenger comfort by reducing the number of passenger seats."

A whole fleet of trucks? Reducing the number of seats? The profit on a particular flight is represented by ONE passenger. I don't think so.

Why not? Why can't they reduce the number of seats and give the passengers more room while increasing the cost a little bit? People pay for comfort. Why not start out on the right foot? Other airlines have done it.

747s are incredibly expensive to operate. They rely on dense passenger layouts and high-volume routes in order to generate profit. Baltia has neither, but particularly no high-volume routes. There are MUCH better options on the lease market for them to utilize. No one flies the routes they want to fly direct for a reason -- there's insufficient passenger volume. Yet Baltia not only wants to fly these routes direct, they want to fly them direct in the single largest passenger aircraft available today?
Everything about this company just says 'scam' to me.

The Company still has not received certification for its planned route from the United State to Russia, and there is no reason to believe that approval will be forthcoming. With no planes, no routes, and no operations, the Company has no airline.
Baltia Air had filed several Forms 10-Q - for the quarters ended, March 31, 2004, June 30, 22004, and September 30, 2004, and a Form 10-K for the year ended December 31, 2003. Granted the Company was late out of the gate with each of these filings
Plus if you look at my previous posts, you will see a lot of things about that company are very suspicious.
Of course when you first take a look at it, it seems like a hidden gem, but you have to be extremely careful with this one... they just keep on postponing their first flight, with no plane!

One more thing, this was the last DOT/FAA filing for Baltia that I could find, dated 12/08/1999. Not the same picture that was presented in the recent press releases or by Bob Strom.
"Document Abstract Order 99-12-6 denies the request of Baltia Air Lines, Inc., for a waiver of the revocation-for-dormancy provisions of 14 CFR 204.7, and revokes the certificate of public convenience and necessity issued to Baltia by Order 96-2-51 authorizing it to engage in foreign scheduled air transportation of persons, property, and mail (Route 688)."
DO YOUR OWN DUE DILIGENCE ON THIS COMPANY!
