Army Succeeds In First Rocket Launch From Rotary Wing UAV

Feb 08, 2005 (Defense Daily/Access Intelligence via COMTEX) -- In the first known successful rocket launch from a rotary wing unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), the Army's Aviation Applied Technology Directorate (AATD) successfully fired four 2.75-inch rockets from the test bed Vigilante UAV, the directorate said.
The Vigilante, designed by Advanced Technologies Inc. with a flight control system developed by Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC), used an L-3 Communications [LLL] 12DS electro-optical-infrared sensor and an Army Aviation and Missile Research, Development and Engineering Center Structures Directorate-developed four-tube Hydra Universal Rail Launcher (HURL) 2.75-inch rocket launcher and a stores management system and launcher electronics assembly developed by Naval Sea Systems Command.

AATD announced the feat yesterday, which took place Dec. 13-14 at Yuma Proving Ground, Ariz. Data from Vigilante indicated the UAV remained stable and the flight control system made the corrections to accommodate the weapon recoil and blast effects.

The events represented other major milestones for Army aviation, including the fact that Vigilante was controlled by an airborne craft; the control station was installed aboard a UH-1 manned helicopter. Also, this was the first airborne launch from the HURL--a four-tube smart rocket launcher that attaches to the Hellfire rail and connects with the platform through Mil=Std 1760 and 1553 interfaces.

Initial HURL development was sponsored by the RAH-66 Comanche program, the Boeing [BA] Sikorsky [UTX] future helicopter program the Army cancelled a year ago.

looks good to me they were showing pictures from the predator on FOX news yesterady...
the predator is fixed wing, so it has problems hovering and staying over target...this might be fix for that...

Posted by keithsan on :

If you notice, they're testing it in Yuma Arizona, there is a big USMC base there.

right now the copters in Iraq are dangerous for out troops. this would solve that.

Hey Keithsan. How do you think this stock will do the next few weeks. I am thinking about buying in. Thanks.

All it needs is some news.

I like it, everything is a go, but, its not moving. support is .025 so anywhere in that range is safe. Or should be. The mm's held this down yesterday and there was little volume today.

Posted by keithsan on :

This one annoyed me today, this had the most volume in months yesterday, news, and the bid is lower than its been in a while.

Thats crap mm's trying to take my jam. I'm not selling into there lower than support bid. LOL I'll wait em out, they have to come off the sho list sometime.(i'm not certain that list matters)

I had a open bid at .025 for 20,000 most of the day and no fills. I thought they would buy some at .023 and sell it to me at .025. They were not playing with me today. I will watch for a few more days. It had higher support before the big day with news. Support will come back.

Hey keithsan how ya been? I think this is low enough for me to buy a boatload...I like this stock and it has huge potential....r u sure about the O/S? Are you still a believer in bottompicks (the elite 50)?

BullRider

Posted by keithsan on :

Hey TX,

sure as i can be on the O/S, this is from the 10Q

As of June 30, 2004, approximately 28,306,416 shares of the Registrant's Common Stock, $0.001 par value were outstanding.

The chart held solidly until the late news and that runup yesterday, but mm's refused to let her rip.

BOTTOM PICKS: he gave me a 2 bagger with EZTO and then a 10 bagger with TLTD, I took a hit on ASLG but for a comparitively minor amount.(by the way ASLG is smoking this week he just called it a couple to early. Also still holding his oSFT waiting to see if that merger news comes through.

He said hes posting no more picks until OSFT or ASLG end up a double from his buy in. I hope its soon....

LOL - I'm right there with you. I'm holding. I usually am quick with the sell button but MMs are pissing me off on this one.

Just thought I ought to mention that AVTX is probably not what you think it is. The advanced technologies company that is involved in the rotary wing uav is an employee owned company, not publicly traded. AVTX is a company out of CA that builds infra red cameras. The private co. is on the east coast.

Posted by keithsan on :

? they are both AVTX and on Pinksheets.com ?

Posted by ajman on :

They're not both on pinksheets.com, only the one out of CA is on there. I believe pinksheets mistakenly put the news for the private company on with the advanced tech out of CA

DOH!

Hey Keithsan. What did you find out about this company? I bought in at 0.032. Should I hold or fold?

Posted by keithsan on :

i'm in at .028 I'm holding. not saying you should tho, its on the sho list and not moving with heavy volume.

I pulled it up on a screeener, like the float and news also support so here i am.

Posted by d6veteran on :

I was in at .029. I'm gonna hold and try to forget about it for awhile. I do think it could pop with some news.

Notice following excerpt from 10QSB OF 2-14-05

BUSINESS OVERVIEW

The tragic events of September 11, 2001 and the resulting high level of security activity continues to effect ATI and our strategic plans. As time passes the impact is lessen and the over-all business recovery will improve. The cost of venture capital remains high for the technology sector. US Government restrictions on the application of Infrared Technology to commercial application continue to be tight as we learn to work with new restrictions and reporting requirements.

Advanced Technologies Inc. (AVTX) received notification from the United States Department of Commerce, Bureau of Industry and Security that an export license (D326061, effective September 21, 2004) has been granted for fifty (50) NV-2000 cameras.

The IR cameras are to be delivered to United Integrated Services Inc. Taipei Taiwan. The NV-2000 IR Cameras are for installation in the Spectrum 9000, an Infrared medical system. The Spectrum 9000 will then be re-sold to medical treatment facilities in Taiwan & South Korea in 2005.

The NV-2000 Infrared Camera has been granted a commodity jurisdiction designation of ECCN 6A003 for this application. The value of the export equipment authorized under and specified in the export license is $250,000.

This is the third license granted to Adv-Tech from the DOC for the Spectrum 9000 medical equipment The initial licenses were for 25 systems in 2001 and for 35 systems in 2003. The work performed by Advance Technologies Inc. is authorized under an agreement between United Integrated Services and Advance Technologies Inc. that cover this and other areas of mutual interest.

Advanced Technologies was asked to provide assistance to Kollsman Inc. to plan their 2005 R & D activities. This activity is in response to an initiative by Kollsman to expand their commercial avionics business. Information and project definitions were prepared and presented to Kollsman senior management to assist them in their planning activity. The proprietary material provided to Kollsman is consistent with and compliant with the Advance Technologies Kollsman Technology Transfer Agreement, 1995.
Kollsman Instrument has provided the quarterly sales for period from October 1, 2004 to December 31, 2004, as well as accumulative sales to date. With the latest sales, the initial quantity of units for level 1 have been satisfied. Level 1, under terms of the agreement were designated as royalty free. With the satisfying of the initial sales, all future sales will provide royalties to Advance Technologies Inc. on a quarterly basis. Advance Technologies will report the royalty income. Information on number of units sold and/or the royalty fee per unit are competition sensitive and will not be report beyond any unit sales that Kollsman may elects to make public.

The reason there is no mention of Rotary Wing UAV
is because they are not the same company.

I've watched this board for a long time and paid more attention to some posts than others and appreciate the input most of the time.
I had not registered because I didn't really have anything to add, until I saw this about AVTX.
Just thought I would share what I found so you didn't get burned thinking it was something that it wasn't.

Good DD ajman....It's easy enough to get screwed in the market without news outlets mis-associating PRs with the wrong sources.

You added something this time....

Posted by glassman on :

i had assumed that they were using the infrared camera on the helicopter....oh well

Posted by keithsan on :

this is a very nice day so far.

Hey Keithsan. I rode it up to .045 and bailed. After jumping in at .032 and seeing it dip to .022 I feel pretty good about it. Thanks for your response a couple of days ago. I think I'll go ahead and register. You are a good man. Thanks Keithsan!

Posted by keithsan on :

You got out better than me, i think it still may play well but I was planning on being stuck so when the oppurtunity came to sell for profit i did. didnt get .045 though.

Posted by slyfox on :
