Stem Cell research will be huge in the future!! Better buy now while they are low!

What exactly is stem cells, never really got into the subject. I know it is either in eggs or an aborted embryo.
It's research growing stem cells. I think it should be legal no matter WHO wins.

are any of the conservatives against fertility assistance clinics?
what are we supposed to do with all of the fertilized eggs that have been stored cryogenically at feritility clincis??????
this is where stem cells come from......
they don't come from abortions.
we have nuclear bombs, nuclear power plants...
we spray carcinogens ALL OVER OUR PLANET intentionally.....
that is genetic engineering by ACCIDENT......
STEM is a company that is TRYING to help people like Christopher Reeves walk again....
is that really so bad????

Those who are opposed to abortion are not opposed to the destruction of a "fetus" within the womb. They are opposed to the destruction of the "fetus", whether it be in the womb or in a petri dish. To limit the term "abortion" to the destruction of a fertilized embryo WITHIN the womb may not be in contradiction with Webster, but it is splitting a pretty fine hair.
P.S. Does human life begin at conception, birth, or upon completion of one's first profitable stock trade? If it is the latter, than I am in trouble...
AGAIN THIS MAY NOT BE SUITABLE FOR ALL TO VIEW: http://www.truthorfiction.com/rumors/b/babysamuel.htm
http://www.michaelclancy.com/
Anyway, I thought that picture makes a strong statment. Is that a viable human life or not...Whatever decision anyone makes on this topic is their own to live with wether they think it right or wrong. The point I am trying to make is that there are people who are or have argued that at that point it is not a human life. Who is to truly say when life begins or ends.
I truly do understand the value of this type of research, however the ethical and moral issues that are involved leave a paradox of situations. The slope is slippery, and it must be handled with great caution and care.

cuz it has realy just become another campaign debate....
i fully agree that abortion is WRONG.....
i don't think anybody says it's right...
you have not addressed my POINT tho....
if you go to a ferility clinic(where the empryonic cells come from) they will fertilize DOZENS if not hundreds of eggs.....
they will implant several until reasonable goals are acheived.....
this leaves thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of embryos in liquid nitorgen....
i don't hear ANY devbate over the STATUS of embryos created in vitro....
it is IMPOSSIBLE to break these issues down into simple soundbites....
i find it disturbing that if you bomb a women's health clinic, or assassinate a DOCTOR you are not considered a TERRORIST....
if you think the country is divided now, just sart TRYING to repeal women's rights again....
this is nothing.....
BTW if you DD STEM, you will find that they are using other than embryonic stem cells( as far as i can tell) i don't work there....
it might interest you to know that stem cells, by definition have yet to differentiate into specific types of cells. the research that NEEDS to be done, is to learn how they do become different types of cells....once that is learned, it is not only possible, it is likely we won't need to use embryos.
gaining this knowledge will help us to understand creation just a little bit better
however, the conundrum still remains.....
are those embryos stored in liquid nitrogen destroyed lives already? do we destroy them or do we leave them in limbo/ or do we implant them, and if so where?
it's not easy dealing with 21st century science is it. implying that the scientists that have spent their lives dedicated to this research are not qualified to be ethical is hubrous--
esp. by somebody eager and willing to drop bombs on innocent people, and who seeks funding every year to develop MORE nucUlar weapons(even tho we have several treaties agreeing not to)
no, it isn't easy being ethical at all.....
liberal or conservative.....
[This message has been edited by glassman (edited October 10, 2004).]
Bush has requested funding EVERY year he has been in office to develop NEW nukes....
a clear violation of several treaties....
still think he is a great defender of the innocent???
it get's even more interesting for those of you that support Bush cuz of his "conservative" views.....if you understand how NIH funding works you will realise that if NIH funds something, they maintain some control overthe research itself AND how the PRODUCTS of the research are used...
but stem cell research is LEGAL, and since we don't fund it thru the NIH, all of it is UNREGULATABLE.....feeling any more follish yet?? or do want more?

Fact Sheet
Embryonic Stem Cell Research
August 9, 2001
"As a result of private research, more than 60 genetically diverse stem cell lines already exist" I have concluded that we should allow federal funds to be used for research on these existing stem cell lines " where the life and death decision has already been made", This allows us to explore the promise and potential of stem cell research" without crossing a fundamental moral line by providing taxpayer funding that would sanction or encourage further destruction of human embryos that have at least the potential for life."
-- George W. Bush
also from the white house....
The creation of embryonic stem cells. To create embryonic stem cells for research, a "stem cell line" must be created from the inner cell mass of a week-old embryo. If they are cultured properly, embryonic stem cells can grow and divide indefinitely. A stem cell line is a mass of cells descended from the original, sharing its genetic characteristics. Batches of cells can then be separated from the cell line and distributed to researchers.

what about Ruby Ridge????
and one of the reasons i am so uptight right now is that we are looking at a major eveporation of our rights right now....
i hope that if Bush wins, we at least get a democratic senate and or house......
i'm not a liberal or a conservative.....i look for the TRUTH wherever it is....
i just want people to try to find the truth instead buying the party line....
wake up!!!!!
he is married to one of the wealthiest women on the planet, and he is a socialist??
and you wonder why i am giving you a hard time?????
if you knew how many important scientific research projsects are going unfunded, you would be furious as i am with all of the socialism/capitolism bickering going on beteween the parties.....
scientific research requires INVESTMENTS that don't return for years and years, yet they make the changes that really do matter.....
the Apollo mission is a perfect example...
do you know how many people said that it was a waste of money and the money should have been spent on food for the poor?????
this is why i am trying to break the labels...
Bush has never worked either....he has, by his own admission, gotten where he is by catering to his base....
i believe he calls his TRUE base the "have mores"...
GHW Bush WORKED and Reagan WORKED...
we all wish to become part of the "have mores"....
that's not a bad thing....
the question is how do you become a "have more" isn't it?????
i WORK for it.....
there are so many EXCUSES being made for why things are the way they are that it's disgusting....
for instance, Carter's failure's are really due to Watergate, which paralysed this country for 5 years and allowed the OPEC crisis to happen...
everybody is so busy pointing fingers and blaming somebody else that the problems just keep getting worse, and WORSE and WORSE
