The new season has just began in Daytona for the 2006 Budweiser shootout.

TNT in HD.

Go Tony Go!

Posted by DOG GUIDE on :

Wife (ergo I) have been a huge Rusty Wallace fan for many years, she will ask "don't you need to buy more Miller Lite beer?" I have bought Rusty many tires in the last few years but alas we (I) cannot root for Kurt Busch so we are debating switching to either Ryan Newman or Jamie McMurray, Jamie at least has Crown Roayl for a sponsor so the wife wil ask "Don't you need more Crown?" Gonna be fun.

Posted by HILANDER on :

Yeah, gonna miss Rusty, (even named my cat after him) but for me, it's Tony Stewart now.

Posted by Peaser01 on :

I hear ya DG, I can not stand Kurt Busch either. Spoiled, little rich brat IMHO.

Posted by Team Sleep on :

I loved Jimmy Spencer for the shear fact that he's repeatedly tried to kick the crap out of Kurt Busch.

Posted by Peaser01 on :

That was Awesome. I thought it woulda knocked a little sense into Busch when he got pounded by Spencer in his car two years ago. So much for that. LOL

Posted by Team Sleep on :

Spencer's pounded him twice (that we know of) and that still didn't help matters...

It's time for another pounding. But who's gonna do it? There's a bunch of pansies running these days... Johnson, McMurray, Kahne, Mears, Biffle... these guys would never put Busch in his place.

Posted by Peaser01 on :

I like watching Carl Edwards race. He's more than appreciative of where he is. He is very respectable.

He is gonna be one of greats someday I believe.

Posted by Team Sleep on :

I like Bobby Hamilton, Jr. He'll probably never win many races and definitely won't ever win the Nextel Cup, but he's an all around good guy. He reminds me of some of the older, respected drivers and not one of these hotshot young guns.

Daytona final practice just finished up.

Tony's car looks good! Let's Get It On Already!

One more day to wait.

Posted by Peaser01 on :

7 more laps in the Busch series race, Tony is leading Little E.

Posted by Peaser01 on :

Tony wins, wild finish with a big wreck about 100 yards from the checkered flag.

Tomorrow's the big day.

yeah, lets hope he does better at being a good rep for the sport than Kurt Busch has.....
Carl needs to work on his short track stuff to be a champ.... but heck, he was just a rookie last year, even tho he didn't qualify for rookie status...

talk about the all-american clean cut kid [Cool]

5 years ago, Dale Earnhardt was lost in the Daytona 500.

The 48th Daytona 500 is almost underway.

Posted by Peaser01 on :

Let's see if Tony can get back to the front after hitting the wall. Restarted 32nd.

His car still looks great after he hit the wall.

Lookin' good so far.

shhesh, our cable co' is so rinky-dink? every time the race is on NBC? our picture gets messed up...i assume too many people are tryiing to watch it at the same time....
we have no NBC broadcasters within 100 miles so cable is the only option..

so i didn't see tony hit the wall....

seems like they finally have it fixed [Big Grin]
they need fog lights now???

at least we don't have traffic jams here, LOL

the joy of living in the country [Roll Eyes]

Posted by Peaser01 on :

LOL, Jeff drove underneath Tony and they both got into the wall coming off the turn.

Jeff's car caught the brunt of the damage.

Time Warner is jacking up there rates again here.

CRASH!

Posted by Peaser01 on :

Edwards lost a tire it looked like. He may be done for the day.

Jeff Green was tapped by Jarret, about 5 cars were just taken out.

I wish that I still lived in the country.

Mark and Tony running 1 + 2!

Posted by glassman on :

tony??? running into matt?wtf???
looked like tony's spotter messed up...
can't imagine he did that on purpose (this early anyway [Wink] )

Posted by glassman on :

if nascar is gonna penalise him for aggressive driving? then the apropriate penelty is he should hav to finish 1 spot behind Matt now...
or at least start behind him, however many laps down....

Posted by glassman on :

now kenseth gets black flagged? he didn't contact tony..
NASCAR is screwed up....

Posted by Peaser01 on :

lol, Not too sure what Tony was thinking.

Matt seems to have a hot head too.

Well, Matt is done for the day in regards to keeping up with the field.

Tony will probably race back up to the top by the end of the race.

I guess that Tony proved the point that Nascar didn't make the aggressive driving penalty strong enough. LOL

Posted by Peaser01 on :

The interviews after the race should be good.

Not sure if the after race commentary will be on NBC or the SPEED Channel?

Posted by glassman on :

wierd... i say either penalize fairly or don't penalize...

matt didn't hit anybody and he gets more of a penalty???? just don't make sense...

Posted by Peaser01 on :

Tony was just penalized for running over eqipment in his pit stall. Odd penalty.

Back to the end of the longest line.

It's all about playing within the rule book.

Matt passed Tony and came above the yellow line under cation while getting back on the track coiming out of the pits.

Posted by Peaser01 on :

Tony's car is fading fast. He was in 20th about 10 laps ago, now he's back in 32nd. His day may be done after that skirmish with Matt.

Back to 28th.

Posted by glassman on :

i know the technicality of it, but matt wasn't taking a position...NASCAR needs to be consistent...

i'm not even convinced tony was trying to wreck matt... mighta been, mightnotta... mat wasn't trying to wreck tony tho...just letting off his steam...
nascar has a history of going after the roush guys harsher than the rest....

tony may have hurt something running over the jack?

now JJ is acting like a dork...

Posted by Peaser01 on :

Tony needed this caution flag.

NASCAR always has to change a rule about something.

They have not been too big on consistency over the years, I agree.

Posted by glassman on :

marks car looks good...

dropped from first to 7th on two tires, but it took a long time...
he may be able to take two on the last pit and hold first?

Posted by glassman on :

oh well....
crappy finish..
Tony admitted he did it on purpose in the post-race...
Nascar may have add to the penalty...
i hope they do a real postrace inspection on JJs car [Big Grin]

Posted by Peaser01 on :

Yah, I had a good feeling that he meant to do it. I didn't want to come out and say it though.

I'm not sure if Matt started it or not? It's a race.

Tony retailiated though, and was penalized for it. Nothing more will probably come of it from Nascar.

Kenseth may remember this incident for the rest of the year however, so we may be able to say, to be continued.......

It looks like Kyle Busch may look for on opportunity to get Tony as well. We'll wait and see at what level his maturity is actually at in how he respnds to Tony's criticism of the little Busch.

Posted by Team Sleep on :

Tony Stewart was driving like a crackhead yesterday. Like he had an attitude and chip on his shoulder and he was out to prove he was a tough guy. What was his problem?

There's a big difference between driving with passion and driving with stupidity, and Stewart crossed that line.

I liked what I saw from Dale Jr. He took a gamble at the end. It didn't pay, but he tried and he showed some heart and some life. After the race he had a good attitude and seemed very encouraged. Maybe he's turned the corner... we'll see...

Posted by Peaser01 on :

I can not disagree about the crackhead remark, that's for sure. His temper got the best of him yet again.

It's pretty amazing how he came from the back 2 times after the penalties and still was a contender at the end.

Gordon even salvaged a good day after he put Tony and himself into the wall surprisingly.

Maybe we'll see somemore helmets being thrown at cars this year. Who knows? [Big Grin]

Posted by Peaser01 on :

Mark Martin is undefeated in the Nascar Craftsman Truck Series this year.

He's 2 for 2, and he's the only driver to ever win the first two races of the year.

Posted by glassman on :

it's Marks own Team....

IMO? Mark made a lot of personal sacrifice to get Roush up to 5 teams...

however? that's not an excuse for never winning the championship... he has just had terrible success at restrictor plate tracks... after watching him race at them for ten years or so? i have come to the conclusion that he just isn't willing to put somebody in the wall to win at a "plate track" and that is what it take safter all....

Posted by Peaser01 on :

Mark's racing in a few Truck races this year; I think 5, if I remember right.

Posted by Peaser01 on :

Drivers to watch today:

Tony of course. Biffle, K.Busch, Kenseth, Edwards, Martin, and Johnson.

Rousch Racing cars have been strong in practice all weekend. There's about 5 dominate cars that broke 183 mph during the practice sessions and qualifying, so we'll see what happens.

Posted by Peaser01 on :

Glass, they just played the Mark Martin/Carl Edwards commercial again.

Have you seen it yet?

It's great, I had to laugh again at it.

Posted by glassman on :

just came in from the workshop, haven't seen it yet... i suppose they'll show it durining the race...

Posted by Dustoff101 on :

Was ya out thar thinking like a Crafty Fish?

Or an Artistic craftsman, glassman..

Posted by Peaser01 on :

I wondered that myslef D. LOL

Tony just passed Johnson and little Busch for 3rd.

He's coming!

Posted by Peaser01 on :

Tony passed little bigger Busch for 2nd.

Posted by Peaser01 on :

Tony's about to take the lead. Yee Haw!

Posted by Peaser01 on :

If I had to guess, we may see a Stewart, Kenseth 1, 2 finish today.

108 of 250 laps completed.

Tony had a bad pit stop that moved him back to 14th on the restart, but he's moving back up now.

Posted by Peaser01 on :

Did ya miss it again glass?

Posted by glassman on :

yep missed it again i was outside..

is Hamlin spinning trying to get Tony back on the lead lap? can't beleive Nascar didn't throw a caution on that....
if this race goe green the rest of the way? i don't think Tony will be on the lead lap... he's outa sequence, it'll be close, i think he's like three laps outside the window...

Posted by Peaser01 on :

I figured they would've thrown a caution as well.

Maybe Nascar is trying to not throw a caution unless there is an oil spill, or wreck?

Who knows?

I'm surprised that they haven't thrown another for debris yet. We still may see another debris caution.

Without another caution or mechanical failure, Biffle has the race won. I'm still counting on a caution though.

Posted by Peaser01 on :

Yee Haw!! Debris Caution!

Go Tony Go!!

Tony is a lock now barring any mechanical failure or black flag IMO!!

Posted by glassman on :

suspicious caution there... LOL Nascar sure does some odd things...

a lock? LOL

Posted by Peaser01 on :

If there's not another caution flag, we'll be seeing some folks run out of fuel.

Maybe someone running out of fuel will cause a caution with 5 or less laps to go?

There could be a green/white checkered finish.

Posted by Peaser01 on :

DWE, how's the race?

Oh, I forgot, you're not posting. [Big Grin]

Posted by Peaser01 on :

Tony's engine blew. crap!

Posted by glassman on :

head gasket drivers side on Tony... he blew an engine here last year too...

caution? fuel mileage is not an issue now....

Posted by Peaser01 on :

Yup, I guess that's why he was so fast here.

Two years in a row with the same problem.

They need to get a Rousch engine for next year here. lol

Posted by Peaser01 on :

A new twist!

Biffle's engine starting to go and Busch spun out.

Harvick may have messed his pants on that one.

He just missed hitting Busch.

Posted by Peaser01 on :

quote:

So much for Rousch engines after Biffles' blew a cylinder. LOL

This is getting interesting now.

Posted by Peaser01 on :

Kenseth wins, if only Tony's engine held up for the last 40 laps and I may have had my 1st and 2nd prediction come true.

Oh well. Looks like last year all over again for Tony. At least I'm hoping for that anyway.

Posted by Chadsly on :

It's beautiful to see Matt win after last weeks stupidity with Stewart.

I'm not a Kenseth fan at all, but I can't stand Stewart. He's got so much talent, but he does too many moronic things. He deserved the DNF.

Posted by Team Sleep on :

Something's definitely up with Stewart. I would say he was on his man-period, but it's been two weeks in a row of his antics.

I wonder what's he so angry about? If he can't run with the big boys, it's time to step back down to IRL where it's OK to be a prick.

Posted by Peaser01 on :

Not too sure about anything wrong he may have done in California? He raced clean all day.

His car slid up the track a few times exiting the corners, which is normal in racing. He saved it a couple of times from brushing a couple other drivers.

He was out of line in Daytona for sure, and was penalized accordingly by Nascar. Matt was as well for bumping into Tony in retaliation in Daytona after leaving the pits.

What made you upset at him after this week TS?

Posted by Team Sleep on :

Sorry, I wasn't too clear... I was referring to some hostility towards the media pre/post race.

He did run clean yesterday, but he seemed angry with the media. And the media was playing on that...

Dale Jr. impressed me again this week. If he can maintain the positivity and balance, he'll have a great season.

Waltrip's true colors are coming out. By that I mean he's no longer with a top-notch team that's giving him top-notch equipment and it's showing in the standings...

Posted by Peaser01 on :

I thought he was smart for mentioning that he wasn't going to talk to the media about Daytona.

It would have only made things worse if he had opened his mouth about it.

The media does whatever it can to stir up a ruckus, it's their lifelong duties pretty much anymore it seems, and especially when there is controversy. They tend to fan the flame.
---------------------------------------------

The rookie of the year battle this year will be very interesting. There's a lot of good young talent that just may end up in the chase for the cup come end of year.

Posted by Peaser01 on :

The more races Kenseth wins this year, and in the future, the better it is for me. I have an autographed card of him from his rookie year that's a limited edition. It may actually be worth a few hundred by now, who knows?

It's been put away for a few years now and I have no idea what it may be worth. At that time it was worth $125, but I haven't a clue where it's at now. I may just have to dig it out and look up the value sometime.

Tony just hit the wall really hard.....

gotta wonder if the Lowes repaving and the goodyear combo is even worse this year...

Posted by glassman on :

Tony just took another hard lick......

Posted by Stocktrader20 on :

It took them a while to get him out of the car, looks like he may injured his ribs. Last night was bad enough but, this wreck probably did some damage.

Posted by Peaser01 on :

Busted his scapula. Ouch.

I almost picked up some cheap Dover tickets for this weekend on Ebay, but dedcided against it just in case Tony isn't racing this week.

I'll wait until the September race to head down there. I'm not gonna waste my time going to Pocono or Watkins Glen, since you can't see everything that goes on. I'de rather watch those races on TV. I may head to New Hampshire, that's a track where you can see everything.

My wife and I stopped at Darlington and Daytona last year. Boy, The Lady In Black sure needs some TLC. I walked on the track in turn 3, boy is she torn up.

Posted by glassman on :

that's some really wierd chit...
Tony's had to overcome enough tough breaks this season already without that....

Posted by Peaser01 on :

This is his best start to the season that I can remember too. He usually starts out really slow, then comes on strong in the summer and fall.

He could probably sit out a race or two if he wanted and not really suffer much in the points due to the chase scenario. Well, that is, taking for granted that he has a strong summer + fall again this year.

It's a good thing for these safer barriers, or he coulda broken something more serious than his shoulder blade. There's been a few hard crashes this year into the walls. The safer barrier has definately made racing a tad safer along with the hans device.

Still waitin' on a Nascar IPO. lol

Posted by glassman on :

i bet Tony will start the races and then get out and have another driver finish them....
that way he still gets points, but he'll have to be very careful not to hit anything....

it's still 37 of 190 points just to put the car in the field and take the green...
and if he starts? he gets the points even if they finish 30th...

i don't think completely missing 2 races would be a very good idea...

i've been pretty critical of Tony but not of his skill or his tenacity...

maybe if he does miss 2? hell come back even better than ever?

it's really strange how he hit the wall almost the same exact way for two completely different reasons in one weekend....

Posted by Peaser01 on :

Well, Tony should dominate today.

Second will be Jeff Gordon as long as his engine holds up.

Those are my picks for the top two finishers.

Tony is a lock to win on road courses.

Posted by glassman on :

will tony finish?...
i don't think so

Posted by Peaser01 on :

If only his engine would've finished on all 8 cylinders.

7 Cylinders left, 13 laps to go. Will it last?

Posted by glassman on :

all these caution laps are crap....

Posted by Peaser01 on :

Heh, Heh, Tony's gonna finish it's looking like. lol

These cautions do stink, cause that's when he is losing spots.

Posted by Peaser01 on :

Well, Tony is 33rd. The worst he can finish is 38th.

Looks like it won't matter much if he finishes or not.

At least he's on the lead lap. Geez.

Posted by Peaser01 on :

It's nice to see Terry Labonte in the top five.

Posted by Peaser01 on :

Well Gordon won, Tony finished 29th after being near the front for the better part of the day until his motor slipped a tad.

Posted by glassman on :

and jimmy johnsons lucky streak continues...

Tony wins, and JJ doesn't finish....
(after France beat Brazil? i'm feeling lucky)

Posted by Peaser01 on :

A two bagger huh?

I'm all for it!

Posted by Peaser01 on :

So glass, who will spin out JJ?

Someone needs to give him a good bump in the rear.

Posted by Peaser01 on :

Wooo who! JJ just got loose, I just wish he didn't hit Bobbie! Freakin putz! Bobbie was having a great run for once and JJ hit him. Sux!

Labonte is ticked, in the garage.

Hope JJ blows up.

Looks like the 3rd Championship race has begun for Tony.

JJ better get ready, cause Tony's a comin'

Posted by glassman on :

JJ Yaley robbed Jeff Gordon , Mark Martin and Biffle of the top 10 finishes they deserved.... Biffle may have gottn loose, but Yaley was on bad tires and had no business being up there andtaking the air off him...

If thats the case, Stewart still owed Kenseth from Rockingham in 1998. It was one of Stewart's first Busch races and he had the lead coming off turn 4 on the last lap and Kenseth's runs into the back of him and knocks him up the track and Kenseth steals the win, Stewart didnt win his first Busch race till 7 years later.

Posted by glassman on :

LOL,i didn't see the Bush race in Rham in '98, but i did see Tony run Kenseth all the way down in to the grass at Daytona....

i like trading paint... i wouldn't watch NASCAR if they weren't allowed to....

but? that one was a blatant case of bad manners...
as a matter of fact? i've seen Tony do that quite a few times this season... i'm sure the only reason we see him do it so much is that the cameras are on him more....

I'm still rooting for Mark Martin to win the championship...

Posted by Stocktrader20 on :

Yeah I would agree he did kinda make it a little too obvious in that case but, Its not like Kenseth has never done nothing intentional to Stewart either in the past. But from what Ive seen, they seemed to have gotten over it, both have raced each other pretty clean since then.

As for Martin, I wouldnt mind seeing him win the title either, The guy deserves it. It would be a damn shame if he retired without a title but, he still had a great career either way. He came real close a few times. You remember Talledega in fall of 02' Somehow before the race started he was on the front row and all of a sudden he made hard contact with Johnson and it pretty much ruined each others day.

Posted by glassman on :

yeah, he had something jam in his steering box (so he said)....
that one could be said to have cost him the championship that year... but he also had a bad bad day at Dover that year too...
he was running way out front and two rookies a lap down wrecked in front of him..... it looked like he should have been able to avoid them but he didn't, he hit them and DNFed...
Mark has had a lot of strange luck...
but? that's why we watch the races instead of voting on whose car is prettiest [Big Grin]

Go Tony, Go! About an hour until race time.

Posted by Peaser on :

Tony has moved from 34th to 12th in a very short time. Hopefully a top five finish is in store for him today.

Jeff Burton is running well so far. Hope it keeps up for him.

Posted by Peaser on :

Kenseth might just take over the points lead today.

Posted by Peaser on :

Jeff Gordon took the air off Kenseth's spoiler and Kenseth spun. Gordon took the lead with 4 laps to go.

Could be some folks running out of gas with overtime.

Posted by Peaser on :

Now Kenseth ran out of gas.

Tony's out of gas.

Jeff Gordon wins.

Posted by RickSouthCA on :

Don't like Jeff Gordon but it was ALL Matt Kenseth's fault. Quit pulling a Tony Stewart.

heeehehheeee.....

Posted by RickSouthCA on :

Everybody SAW Matt Kenseth slow down purposely therefore causing Gordon to tip the 17 car. So don't even attempt to point a Tony Stewart finger at anyone. As you all know, Stewart is the best "finger pointer" in the entire racing industry. Kenseth comes in at a close second. He proved it yesterday. Nothing but a low class publicity stunt on behalf of Kenseth.

I don't even like Gordon and never did but I'm glad it wasn't #17 that finished first. Jeff Burton deserved to win at yesterday's USG Sheetrock 400.

that's a good sign...

Tony really is a big kid...

maybe Gibbs hiring two rookies for
him to "train" was intended to bring this out in him...
Gibbs is an amazing manager of "bad boys"

Posted by Peaser on :

One of the best glass, a great manager.
J.D. is pretty much in control now though, since pop moved back to football land.

Tony looks to be takin' names today.

Another 20-30 laps and I think he'll be up front.

Tony hasn't been nice enough on the way up....

nobody cuts you slack when you really need it..
and everybody needs some slack once inawhile...

the producer here at TNT should be fired...
they never did show what all happened to Tony and why...
then they went to commercial and now we have more wreckage

these guys need to be showing better replays

Posted by glassman on :

OK now they show it..
Tony effed up...
he's whining tho...

oh well..

Posted by glassman on :

now Waltrip is screwing up the race too..

i am trying to figure out whether this is even racing anymore...

Posted by Peaser on :

LOL, Ryan Newman slid up into Tony and around he went.

Then Waltrip runs into the back of Newman a few laps later.

Gotta love it.

When TNT tried to interview Newman, he refused the interview.

Posted by glassman on :

Ryan didn't slide up.... Tony was crowding him down

Posted by glassman on :

that was a pitiful finish...
Mark got 5th?

these TV bozo's don't even post the results before they cut to commercials....sheesh what a bunch of losers..

Posted by Peaser on :

Well, I guess we have two perspectives on it.

I quit watching about an hour ago. Who won?

Posted by glassman on :

kyle bush...

but i have no idea who fisinshed after that? they didn't show it...

Posted by glassman on :

nascardotcom says Mark got 4th... but i can't tell from TV....

sad...

Posted by Peaser on :

Hope so, Vickers, Biffle and Burton were running strong when I quit watching. I'll have to check out the highlights tonight.

We're having a family reunion today.

My cousin got married yesterday, since most of the family is in town, we're having a nice feast.

How about the drags, just watching some of those funny cars they all seem to have the same design now just different paint. Three hundred mph in a quarter mile... more like rockets.

Posted by Peaser on :

Yeah, man when they wreck, those cars are mush.

Newman was a lapped car and Newman wrecked Stewart while he was leading the race. That wreck was in no way Stewart's fault.

sorry guys Tony needs to be PARKED for the rest of the race for that one...

one lap is not enough... 5 laps? maybe

ryan last week? even other drivers know Tony squeezed him down...

NO lucky dog..... good.

When you go into a corner on the inside, its your responsibility to make sure you dont slide up the race track and hit the car on the outside(especially when that car is leading the race and youre 2 laps down like Newman was on Sunday), you risk wrecking the car on the outside and damaging your car or even wrecking yourself and also you dont want the caution to come out after you just made a pit stop to kep yourself a lap down. Newman failed to do that. If you look at the replay, Newman clearly just lost it and went up the track and hit Stewart. Stewart did not run into Newman. Bottomline the wreck last week was Newman's fault.

As for this what happened with Boywer today, Tony shouldnt of done that.

the racers measure it at the DOOR,
if you have your nose to the door? you are in..... newman was in... tony disrespected him.

newman took tony out because tony was crowding him down to keep him laps down.

they call it RACING not driving.

mostly? Tony thinks he's the next Dale Sr....

Nascar is moving away from that behaviour...

Tony deserved to be parked for booting somebody at 180 pmph... you forget they are going that fast when you see it on TV....

black flag for carl edwards now? for spinning tony at 30 MPH?

seems like the penalties are not equal somehow...

nascar is losing me...

Tony Stewart basically sealed Carl Edwards out of the top ten today...by being a baby....

Tony won't make the top ten either i bet....

you may not have to be nice on the nice on the way up? but it sure makes it easier to stay there...

if i was carl? an i just got booted this way? tony would be in the wall, not just spun....

You're the one saying Tony should of just let him go. I heard Tony didnt know Newman had fresh tires but, bottomline Newman ran into Stewart, Not hard to understand. Dave Despain said the wreck was Newman's fault, and the last thing you want to do after you just made a pit stop is bring out a caution to keep yourself a lap down like Newman did.

And as for Stewart's driving style, Yes he is a very agressive driver but, its got him two Nextel Cup Championships in 7 years.

Mark Martin is a successful driver, he is not an agressive driver though but, what has that gotten him? 20 years and still not one championship.

So, Id rather be agressive and win championships than just be a driver that races like Martin.

I think he'll get over it pretty quickly. Do you remember the 2005 season? Carl Edwards wrecked more drivers last year than anyone in the Cup series.

Posted by glassman on :

ryan did run into him...i agree, but tony was acting like he owns the track... he doesn't, that's what i mean about racing not driving.....

i don't recall carl wrecking that many peole last year...maybe he did... but tony has done wahtever he damn well please this year...

Posted by Stocktrader20 on :

Its done and over with, Newman and Stewart are already over it.

What happened to Jr? Looks like he just got into the wall.

Posted by glassman on :

bump draft gone wrong..

Posted by Stocktrader20 on :

Edwards punted more drivers than anyone last year without a doubt and he never got penalized once.

And as for Stewart making the chase, hes had a competive car every race. Only one race he did not have a car capable of running in the top ten and that was at Darlington. He finished 12th. Just alot of bad luck here lately but, overall they are running good.

Carl Edwards is a dipstick!

Matt Kenseth looks to be coming on strong. Might just snatch his second cup.

Johnson looks to fall short again.

Tony might just surprise some folks 13 weeks from from now. Title number 3?

Tonight at 7pm on TNT in Bristol.

well....
this it...they decide the top 10 tonight....

Two-time Cup champion odd man out after poor Richmond finish

this is funny:

Training the Tiger

Defending Cup champion Tony Stewart, whose waistline has been the butt of many jokes, has hired certified trainer Marc Arnone to get his weight in check.

Arnone will receive around $200,000 a year to move into Stewart's Columbus, Ind., home and be with the two-time champion on a full-time basis.

"It's a good move for Tony from a performance standpoint," said Al Shuford, the head trainer at Joe Gibbs Racing.

Shuford helped Stewart train for the Indianapolis 500 and Coca-Cola 600 double in 2001.

"He dropped 13 pounds right away just knocking out the Cokes, McDonald's and milkshakes," Shuford said. "He was in the best shape of his career."

While Shuford didn't blame Stewart's weight on him missing the Chase for the Nextel Cup, he did say that was a "wakeup call."

Tony and a monkey and trainer...

200K$ a year to keep Tony away from the Krispy Kremes?

LOL, I say let him enjoy his Dairy Queen trips.

Glad to see Harvick win today.

Glad to see JJ finish in the back and pretty much throw away his chance at winning the championship this year.

Looks like Tony will only get the $1 Million Prize for finishing 11th in the points, not that he needs the cash, lol.

Posted by glassman on :

Harvick seems to be the guy to beat right now...

Posted by glassman on :

Last week? somebody accused RCR (Harvicks team) of tweaking tire pressures illegally...

today? it comes out in a law suit they are accused of building illegal restrictor plate engines this season too...

the chase is on huh?
it's actually pretty slick how they did the engines...

BUT?

it had to cost them a ton of testing money to get the fuel right on this trick... leaking intake gaskets can burn your valves...

what a race today in KC...
congrats to Tony Stewart who wins a race with no gasoline in his tank [Smile]

Jimmy Johnson is true to form blames somabody else for his error.. LOL

What a crazy race!?!

Tony Stewart runs out of gas on the backstretch, coasts through turn four, limps across the finish line and then has to ask where he finished in the race....Zippy just simply said you won. Congrats Peaser.

As for the other craziness, what in the world did they find wrong with Gordo's car? I'm not a fan of his, but there was gas in the carborator, then why no juice/fuel pressure in the engine. Strange.

Felt bad for Kasey Kahne. He's definitely out of it now. Had a nice run going. Bad estimate in the pits on his gas situation.

Mark Martin in his "worst car I've ever driven" finished third.

Other crazy stuff I won't mention, but definitely entertaining. Just wish the announcers were better.

another crazy finish!

Dale Jr and Team showed true character by shrugging it off... [Cool]

Revive me!!!

This just screamed out to me today.

Anyhow, the wife and I made it to the Martinsville Truck and Cup races this past spring. Boy was it a cold camping trip! I believe the high was 39 degrees, we sat in the top row in between turns 3+4. There was a fridgid mist in the air both days.

My wife went into labour the following week. Got my first boy a month early!! He scored a 9/10 on the ABCOR test. Phew, cause I was woried since he was 1 month early.

Needless to say, I've been limited to going to races this year. Last year I made it to both Dover, and Loudon races, also made it to the Glen as mentioned above.

I have yet to go to Bristol. That is the number one track that I want to go to. One of these years...
