bdgee, we do appreciate your concern for the environment. You also have to have a realistic look at these things especially cost.
There are so many claims of this and that out there, but when it comes down to implementing the plan the efficiency of it is not there. One day we will get there.Maybe we can set up an environment thread for you.

If you bothered to look at those links, it is explained exactly how to pay for the change ands exactly how to overcome all the normal fears and objections, ending up with the entire of North America completely powered (transportation too) with out the user of any of that power generated with fossil fuels.
You need to accept that speaking out of political bias and ignorance isn't productive, particularly when you assume a thing to be fact that isn't, for example, that there is no adequate response to your notion or claim that it is fiscally out of the question to convert the entire world to solar and wind power. There are things you haven't imagined out there where you refuse to look.
The cost is clearly withing manageable limits.
The efficiency is way above the use of fossil fuels.
We can, as a part of repairing the destruction done to our financial system, in half a dozen years, complete such a system and put hundreds of thousands of people back to work while in the process. Thereafter, the maintenance force now working to keep those facilities we now have that depend on fossil fuels will switch over to the new system.
I don't need an environmental thread, but you need to spend some effort learning about such things, particularly learning that what you want to believe is not true.

Just get involved. Do something to educate yourself in regards to green energy. I am not going to put 50 solar panels on my house but a few won't kill me and I can run my furnace off of them and learn something in the process. Our Gov. just killed a project for a windmill farm near Toronto saying it wasn't cost effective.????? Holly ***k what a bunch of idiots. If you don't believe in global warming then look up the deaths related to carbon monoxide poisoning and many other toxins. The list goes on and on.
Oh I got one for ya, Mount St. Helens or how about Chernobyl. Those incidents were a moment in time and left an ash cloud and a radioactive cloud over parts of the planet that lasted for weeks.
So what kind of a mark does 150+ years of good solid Industrial growth leave on the Planet?
If nothing else it will keep your money from going to the middle east, ah?
