i grew up in ground zero. the big bullseye.two hundred soviet nukes trained on us at all times.. my fascination with critters there was considered to be odd at best and downright creepy by many of my peers... the notion of survivalism there was zero. we were garatneed obliteration in th efirst round.

you see my perspective? i have more respect for your background than 90% of the sububanites who mostly run and own this country.

now i do see the value of salt, but i just don't think of it as worth more than gold or silver in almost any situation, so i was just trying to say that without being rude. maybe i was rude and didn't mean to be?

You weren't rude glass. The point I was trying to make with my last was that we(but you more so [Wink] ) got way off track of the original question we started to discuss. No big deal.

I was just saying that salt would have an immediate benefit, as would other staple provisions, as opposed to silver. Simple as that. If you think silver would be better, that's fine too. I respect that. We just, both, got way off track. [Eek!]

Hey Glass, things are good here. How bout yourself?

I've been lurking here a bit lately, and this topic caught my eye...

If salt ever became a precious commodity again, you could always move to Utah. I hear there is whole lake of salt up there ripe for the taking.
